Welcome
In May 2002 a number of retired Air Force Officers in Calgary formed
a group to develop and operate an Air Force Museum in an expanded
tri-service museum complex, The Military Museums. The group became the
Air Force Museum Society of Alberta (AFMSA) after formal recognition by
the Alberta Government in early 2003. The Federal Government registered
the Society as a charity and authorized it to issue tax receipts for
donations on April 1st 2003.
The vision of The Air Force Museum is to preserve the rich history and
traditions of the men and women who have and continue to serve in
Canada's Air Force.
The mission of the Air Force Museum is to provide a focus, within the
context of the history of Canadian Air Force, of the contributions of
Alberta and Albertans to the preservation of Canada's freedom.
The AFMSA is governed by a Board of Directors, elected for two year
terms, by the membership at the Annual General Meeting. The Chairman and
Executive Officers serve one year terms which may be extended by the
Directors.
Alberta and Albertans have played significant roles in the Air Force of
Canada. This museum is dedicated to all those who have served and help
to advance cause of Canada on the world stage.
The Alberta Museum Society is pleased to be supported by a number of agencies and organization spanning a wide range of our community. The banner seen at the top of this page and found in the museum has been funded by Alberta Cultural & Community Spirit Lottery Fund Program.
